Talking colour with Lara Fisher of P0ly Designs
Born in the pandemic, P0LY Designs was an unexpected life pivot for Lara Fisher and partner (business and life), Andy.
Meaning 'something with many sides', P0LY Designs creates custom made tiled cubes, side tables, consoles, plinths and more.

Tell us a little about P0ly Designs. When did you launch the business and how did it come to be? (Also, where did the name come from?)
P0LY Designs was born of the Pandemic - a very unexpected life pivot for myself and partner (business and life) Andy. After losing my job at the start of the Pandemic, like so many, I was searching for a creative outlet and a project to occupy my mind and hands. Andy, my partner has a plethora of indoor plants and I wanted to make a tiled plinth to put some of his beautiful pots/plants on so they weren’t sitting on the floor.
Our first creation was definitely a bit wonky, but after putting a photo of it on my personal Instagram a few friends were keen to get one for their homes too.
With the lockdowns causing us to be more online than ever - before we knew it we had orders coming from all over Australia. We were so fortunate to be able to grow our little business in such a low time in the world.
P0LY means something with many sides. Like our designs, our personality and our business. We think it fits just right.

What inspires your designs?
Sourcing tiles is incredibly inspiring. We get all our tiles imported from Italy, Japan and we’re also starting to work with some suppliers in Portugal. The workmanship that goes into making tiles is incredible, how they are able to work with different textures and colour pigments.
Probably the most inspiring part of the business for us, is that all our pieces are made custom to order. That means our clients are choosing their own colour combinations and often coming up with brilliant designs to suit their space. We almost never make the same piece more than once, so everyday comes with new challenges - we never get bored here.

At MILOU MILOU, we are big fans of bringing colour into your life and we love the energy that different colours can create. What is your favourite palette to date and why?
This is a hard one for me, I’m partial to all the neutral tones - cream, terracotta, browns and earthy greens but Andy is all for the colour - the brighter the better.
Our most popular colours at P0LY are the Pistachio Green and Lavender.
When it comes to bedrooms, we believe they should be relaxing and calming but also a reflection of individual personalities. What do you think is most important in a bedroom?
I totally agree, my bedroom is my sanctuary. Especially during those long lockdown months, my bedroom was my sleepzone, yoga studio, home office and library.
Of course bedding is a great way to change the vibe of a bedroom and mixing and matching my linen is a way I love to express my style. Also - we’ve had our bed in every different position in our room - changing the feng shui is a fun way to make your room feel fresh and new.
You recently styled a couple of MILOU MILOU x P0ly Designs looks and we are obsessed! Talk us through your combos. What moods do they evoke? How do you hope they make people feel?
Look 1
Look one is super neutral and warm. This earthy bedding featuring Coffee Stripes (DAVID) and the rich Coffee Bean (CASPAR) is giving us big autumnal vibes. We’ve paired this look with our much loved Cut-out Side Tables in Cream tiles and classic White grout. This neutral colour palette allows you to really have fun with accessories - lamps, vases and artwork.
Who wouldn’t want to hang out in this room?

Look 2
Look two is all about colour. We’ve paired the duckegg Blue (WILLIAM) and rich mustard (ZAC) together for a really bright and uplifting vibe. We’ve matched the look with our classic Side Cube in Blue. We love the mid tone shade of blue as you can add colour into your interiors while still maintaining a calm and serene energy.
