Flack Studio: Masters of Textural Elegance
Nestled in an old 1920’s electroplating factory in Fitzroy, Flack Studio is the home base for David Flack and a team of close-knit designers and architects that all share one thing in common—a vision to deliver contemporary interiors that are creative, elegant, sophisticated, and anything but boring. Since opening in 2014, this studio has quickly garnered a reputation for its bold use of colour and textures in projects spanning from residential to commercial. Even their self-designed, HQ conference room’s walls have been adorned in a daring shade of pink that many wouldn’t dare to employ.
MALVERN
Saturated jewel tones and moody dark hues were used throughout this Edwardian home to create a unique and detailed design that perfectly highlights the owners’ art collection throughout. Rich colour choices, an array of textural finishings, luxurious gold accents, and eclectic furnishings all contribute to not only the playful and sophisticated balance that this home strikes, but the eye-catching and unique quality as well.
BENDIGO
An abundance of grey tones risks an industrial or sterile aesthetic, but Flack Studio have balanced this Bendigo home’s concrete panelled walls and poured aggregate flooring with cosy textiles and potent bursts of colour. We're especially fond of the striking contrast between the cool blue carpet and fiery orange side table—a daring combination that adds instant appeal.
SANDY BAY
Through spatial replanning and material selection Flack Studio was able to transform this once-hidden gem of a Sandy Bay residence into a Biophilic paradise. The abundant use of plants, natural light, and rattan furniture make this an amazing example of Biophilic design in action—and the compelling and contemporary aesthetic it can deliver.
ELMORE
While many of their projects explore vibrant colours, Flack Studios is no one-trick pony. They show range with this monochromatic kitchen that creates impact using an abundance of rich textures and materials, such as blackened steel, leathered granite, and brushed gold. And we clearly aren’t the only ones impressed with this design as it has brought home four awards this past year!
FLACK STUDIO
The same bold style and contrasting colour usage that is seen through Flack Studio’s portfolio also extends to their HQ meeting room. While many interior consultants would err away from such liberal usage of pink - especially in a professional setting - this place of creativity and connection embraces it to craft a fresh and fun space that feels more cosy and welcoming than your average conference room, and sets a precedent for the out-of-the-box creativity that clients can expect.
As a brand also centred in diversity, colour and vibrant texture, MILOU MILOU is deeply inspired by the incredible work Flack Studio produces.
